The owner and founder of Dream Kitchens, Colleen Vanderhovel, began her career designing in 1993. After 13 years, over 8000 kitchens, over 20,000 bathrooms and countless other rooms, Colleen set her sights on starting her own company. Dream Kitchens was formed in 2006 with lofty plans of opening a big, beautiful showroom in Howell. However, economic times forced her to put that dream on hold for a while. Determined to live her dream, Colleen threw caution to the wind, quit her job and started working out of her home in November 2006. Before she knew it, business was thriving. It was time to take the next step. Colleen’s son, Jason, began working with her and together they opened their first showroom on October 1st, 2011. With their best year yet, more changes came in 2012. Colleen hired her second son, Nick, to help take on some of the work. Nick was put in charge of all of the project management and services after the sale.
