Five Generations of Farming
The Spicer family has been growing fruit in southeastern Michigan for five generations. The first farm was near Detroit and fruit was taken by horse and wagon downtown. The first market that we have pictures of was located near the corner of Grand River road and Novi road. We have put together a collection of photos taken in the 1950s of our first market in Novi. We hope you enjoy this part of our family heritage. Read more here.

Parshallville Cider Mill
Tom Walker’s Grist Mill is a Michigan Historic Site. It is commonly known as the Parshallville Cider Mill, located in Parshallville, a small picturesque community, sitting on the banks of the North Ore Creek in Livingston County .
Come visit our 136 year old mill which is one of the few remaining water-powered mills in Michigan . This mill also has a rich history as a flour mill known as Success Flour. It eventually became a grist mill, grinding grain for animal feed. These grains are still listed on the mill wall today.
This cider mill attracts autumn visitors from all over the state. We make cider, spiced donuts, caramel apples, and homemade apple pies. In addition, you can choose from a variety of heirloom apples for baking and eating. We also offer made in Michigan products including local honey.

Dexter Cider Mill – A Taste of Heritage
The Dexter Cider Mill is the oldest continuously operating Cider Mill in Michigan. Cited by “Hour Detroit” magazine as one of the 101 places to visit in the greater Metropolitan area. Today we make cider the same way it was made 120 years ago by using an oak rack press. Using locally grown and hand picked apples and blending 3-5 different varieties in every pressing, which makes each press unique. The equipment used to press the cider is over 100 years old.
The Cider Mill is open from late August to Mid-November, Wed-Sun 9-5 PM. Events involve wine tasting from the Sandhill Crane Winery on Saturday from 11-5 PM and on Sunday from 12-5 PM. Other events showcased throughout the season, please stay tuned. We hope you enjoy the experience that our family has to share with you!
