Milford is a village in Milford Township, in Oakland County, Michigan. The village has about five neighborhoods and is the 171st largest community in the state of Michigan. It is a well-educated community where over 40% of adults over the age of 25 hold four-year degrees or higher. It is semi-ethnically and racially diverse, but English remains the primary language in the community. It has a humid continental climate that brings cold winters and humid and warm summers. The village that would grow into the city of Howell had its start with a sawmill built by Elizur and Stanley Ruggles in 1832. The formal organization of the village did not begin until 1834. The first post office was established in 1835 and Aaron Phelps served as its first postmaster. The mill ponds were constructed in 1836 and 1845 to provide water power for area factories and mills. The village was incorporated in 1869. In 1839, Henry Ford built a carburetor plant and the community continued to grow. Today the village continues in prosperity as a central business district for the surrounding area. The village has been home to several notable individuals including actress Mary Jackson, poet Thomas Lynch, animation writer Matt Wayne and others.
The village spans just over 2.5 miles and in 2000, the median household income was $59,688, the median family income was $71,333 and the per capita income was $26,159. In 2010, the population was 6,175, the population density was 2,541.2 people per square mile and the per capita income was $37,583. The population continued to grow and the population estimate for 2012 was 6,307. The community is fairly wealthy when compared to state and federal economic standards. The city has a mixed workforce and a varied job market, both are fairly balanced with neither white-collar or blue-collar positions or workers dominating.

The village has six parks, including Central Park on the banks of the Huron, Fairgrounds Park near the Senior Center, and Hubbell Park, which shares a trail system that stretches all the way to Kensington Park.
